A Dining Surprise
Southern Living, June 2004
The Lodge Restaurant of Castle Hill is somewhat of a contradiction. For such an upscale restaurant, you wouldn't expect of feel so, well, at home. No stiff waiters or food that you don't know how to pronounce here, just a coziness that you'll easily mistake for an intimate getaway in your own personal lodge.

The Hunt for Intimate Dining is Over
by John Griffin
San Antonio Express-News
“From the moment you pass the gate that surrounds The Lodge Restaurant of Castle Hills, you feel as if you’ve left the bustle of San Antonio behind you. The twisted drive under magnificent gnarled oak trees signals that an adventure lies in store.

After dropping your car off with the complimentary valet service, you take in the full measure of The Lodge itself. Built in 1929, it is a site to behold, a Hollywood-style mansion that is, at once, opulent and rustic, elegant and comfortable.

Here, at long last, is the romantic restaurant that San Antonio has needed. Not the kind with low lighting and overstuffed booths to promote a little private indiscretion, mind you, but an oasis with deeply and sensuously colored walls and ceilings that create intimate dining spaces.”
